Q. I had my computer at another repair company and they could not resolve the issue I was having, can ProTek do anything different to fix my computer?

A. The short answer is yes. We have customers come in for second opinions, follow-up repairs, and even local repair shops that send their clients to us when they do not provide the service required to repair the device.

Data Recovery – Data Transfer

M.2 | Hard Drive | Solid State | IDE | 2.5″ – 3.5″

We specialize in data recovery. Although, sometimes data recovery can be confused with a simple data transfer.

Most of the time when a customer needs data from a computer that will no longer turn on, it is a data transfer. (Obviously, there are situations that require data recovery.) Either way, we can secure your data and move it to any device, like another computer, an external hard drive, or a USB flash drive.

Let’s say you want to upgrade your current laptop to a new solid-state hard drive. We can clone your entire hard drive to the new drive. This will retain all of your programs, settings, and user data.

Q. I want to upgrade my old hard drive to a new solid-state hard drive. I do not want to install all of my programs again and lose all of my saved passwords, can ProTek retain all this information?

A. Yes, in this case, we would need to clone your current drive to the new solid-state drive. Once this process has been completed, everything will be as you had it on your old hard drive, with new, faster, more reliable hardware.

If you’re a Windows user, you’re familiar with the risk of infections on your computer. Don’t worry, we can eliminate all types of infections including malware, ransomware, spyware, and root kits.

Viruses often enter your computer through downloads, but scammers may also pose as support agents for big companies to access your computer remotely. Regardless of how the infection occurs, we are equipped to remove it from your system.

If your bank account has been impacted, we can provide the necessary documentation to help restore it.

Q. When ProTek removes infections from a computer, does it compromise my data?

A. In most cases when we remove infections from a computer, it will not harm the data. There are certain cases in which data can be harmed by an infection. One example is ransomware. which encrypts the user data. If we feel your data is in danger, we will immediately back up/recover the data securely to our servers.

Liquid Damage Repair

Water – Alcohol – Soda – Tea – It’s a long list.

Liquid exposure to the internal components of a computer can lead to corrosive damage and shorting of components on the motherboard, graphics card, or other printed circuit boards.

In the event of liquid exposure, time is of the essence. Power off your device immediately to minimize damage. Our technicians use advanced sonic cleaning techniques to thoroughly clean the device, followed by replacement of any damaged components.

Trust us to bring your computer back to life and keep it running smoothly. Remember rice does not repair computers, technicians do.

Q. I spilled something on my computer, what should I do?

A. Turn it off immediately. Do not turn it back on. Doing so will minimize the risk of damage to internal components thus making the repair less expensive.

Common Repairs

Overheating Repair

Overheating is one of the most common issues we encounter on gaming laptops and PC’s. We will diagnose your overheating issue, resolve it, and get you back behind the keyboard.

Memory/Ram Upgrade

In this day and age of gaming, we recommend at least 16GB of RAM. There are many upgrade types, RGB lighting, faster clock speeds, and different heatshield colors.

Hardware Replacement/Repair

Is your gaming laptop or PC no longer turning on? We can diagnose, repair, and/or upgrade hardware components in your gaming PC.

Hard Drive Replacement/Upgrade

This is sad to say, but we still see new gaming computers with only a mechanical hard drive. We recommend an SSD for your operating system and a mechanical for your games and data.

Software Issues/Corruption

Has a new Windows update caused a compatibility issues? Do you think your computer has a virus or malware?

Graphics Card Refurbishing

GPU’s are the number 1 cause of overheating. We have the ability to refurbish most GPU’s in office, saving you hundreds of dollars on a new Graphics Card.
